Book Hybrid Diet

The Hybrid Diet
by Patrick Holford, Jerome Burne

A radically different, practical and doable way to achieve a healthy weight and substantially reduce your risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer and dementia.

‘If you follow the advice here, you will improve your health, lose weight, avoid diabetes and reduce your risk of cancer and Alzheimer’s. What more could you ask?’ Dr Malcolm Kendrick, GP and author of The Great Cholesterol Con

‘A highly readable, smart and well-reasoned book based on the latest generation of rigorous science’ Nina Teicholz, author of The Big Fat Surprise, and Adjunct Professor, New York University

Recent research has shown that a diet that is very low in carbs and high in good fats is effective for weight loss, can counteract many diseases and also help athletic performance and endurance. The drawback is that it is difficult to stick to – because most people love carbs. But, as The Hybrid Diet demonstrates, we don’t need to choose.

The human body has been designed through millions of years of evolution to burn two different sources of fuel – glucose (which comes from the carbohydrates in fruit and vegetables) and ketones (which are made in the body from fat) – and to switch between them when food is scarce.

The point of The Hybrid Diet is to show you how to make the best use of both options when you need them, and how best to switch between them. In their quest to discover the perfect diet, leading health journalist Jerome Burne and nutrition expert Patrick Holford have examined the latest cutting-edge science and have put together a plan that is sound, simple and delicious – one that is based on how your body works best.

Low Carb High Fat No Hunger Diet
by Veronica Childs, Laura Childs

Lose Weight with the Low Carb High Fat, No Hunger Diet

What if we told you that you can lose a considerable amount of weight before you have to put on that bridesmaid dress next month? In time for your vacation? Or drop enough weight in the first 10 weeks to fit into your high school jeans – just in time for that high school reunion? (One of the Low Carb High Fat Diet authors did it, you can too!)

Does that sound like something you’d like to achieve?

What if you don’t have to count every calorie or be hungry while losing weight? Or be stuck eating like a rabbit.

“This diet already sounds too good to be true.”

We aren’t trying to convince you that this is the Holy Grail of weight loss – but it is hard to curtail our excitement. Both of us – a 50 year old mother and her 20 year old daughter – lost over 30 pounds each; easily and effortlessly by following this set of diet protocols.

Here’s how this began:

We were sick of being large and unhappy. Tired of being tired. Fed up with our lack of confidence.

This weight gain had to stop. Mom had already received a worrisome report from her doctor.

We studied diets, nutrition reports, research studies, and listened to other dieter’s feedback. Next we compared notes and devised our own diet; one we thought might work for us.

And work it did! Following just a few simple guidelines we ate our fill of our favorite foods. We cut out a few others.

People noticed the change. They asked us to share the diet.

At first we shared recipes, but they wanted more. We answered private messages, personal emails, and the multitude of questions asked of us in public. When a few friends started losing weight the way we we’d shared, friends-of-friends began asking for our secrets.

That’s when we sat down and got to work writing out everything we had learned, the foods we ate, and the nutritional concepts we’d uncovered.

We want you to know:

We performed most of our research online (from reputable sources only), read the most popular diet books, contemplated how it could fit into busy lives, and then added a dash of common sense.

You can do all of that for yourself (and save the cost of buying a book), but doing so might take months.

Our diet isn’t the Holy Grail of weight loss (as we’ve clearly stated above). It is not ‘secrets’ that only we are privy to. The “Low Carb High Fat No Hunger Diet” is a hybrid created from necessity. It is the best of the top three diets, with the most wretched parts left behind.

Here’s what happened next:

A few weeks ago we gave a few friends an early copy of this book. So far, their results have been effortless weight loss, no hunger, results in the first few days, better than average results over the first weeks. We are currently compiling these results. We hope that you will be our next success story!

What’s In The Book?

You’ll learn how to contact us personally and see the website we are building to support new friends and family with more nutrition information, new research, and the state of our food supply. We would be honored to have you join us!

The book is large at 240 pages but it won’t take up much of your time. You can start your weight loss journey with the “10 Step Quick Start” and peruse the rest when you have time.

  • 75+ easy recipes
  • sample meal ideas
  • sample meal plans and grocery lists
  • lists of common foods and their net carb value
  • the science behind the diet
  • foods, cooking methods, and ingredients to avoid
  • 10-step quick start
  • and much, much more.

We hope to hear your results soon!

The Omnivore’s Dilemma
by Michael Pollan

The bestselling author of The Botany of Desire explores the ecology of eating to unveil why we consume what we consume in the twenty-first century

“What should we have for dinner?” To one degree or another this simple question assails any creature faced with a wide choice of things to eat. Anthropologists call it the omnivore’s dilemma. Choosing from among the countless potential foods nature offers, humans have had to learn what is safe, and what isn’t-which mushrooms should be avoided, for example, and which berries we can enjoy. Today, as America confronts what can only be described as a national eating disorder, the omnivore’s dilemma has returned with an atavistic vengeance. The cornucopia of the modern American supermarket and fast-food outlet has thrown us back on a bewildering landscape where we once again have to worry about which of those tasty-looking morsels might kill us. At the same time we’re realizing that our food choices also have profound implications for the health of our environment. The Omnivore’s Dilemma is bestselling author Michael Pollan’s brilliant and eye-opening exploration of these little-known but vitally important dimensions of eating in America.

Pollan has divided The Omnivore’s Dilemma into three parts, one for each of the food chains that sustain us: industrialized food, alternative or “organic” food, and food people obtain by dint of their own hunting, gathering, or gardening. Pollan follows each food chain literally from the ground up to the table, emphasizing our dynamic coevolutionary relationship with the species we depend on. He concludes each section by sitting down to a meal–at McDonald’s, at home with his family sharing a dinner from Whole Foods, and in a revolutionary “beyond organic” farm in Virginia. For each meal he traces the provenance of everything consumed, revealing the hidden components we unwittingly ingest and explaining how our taste for particular foods reflects our environmental and biological inheritance.

We are indeed what we eat-and what we eat remakes the world. A society of voracious and increasingly confused omnivores, we are just beginning to recognize the profound consequences of the simplest everyday food choices, both for ourselves and for the natural world. The Omnivore’s Dilemma is a long-overdue book and one that will become known for bringing a completely fresh perspective to a question as ordinary and yet momentous as What shall we have for dinner?
